The Experimental Stage of Kalamata has started since the end of the previous year the preparation of the 7th Kalamata International Puppet Theater Festival which is planned to take place October 16-24, 2023.

We have already received over 43 participation applications and have made a first selection, choosing 21 troupes, with 46 artists from Greece, Germany, France, Belgium, Chile, Spain, Israel. During the Festival will be presented 42 performances and 4 puppet theater workshops will be held.

But the pre-festival activities have started and will be rich in content.

A poster competition is being organized for the 7th Puppetry Festival.

Any artists interested in taking part must submit their proposals by March 31, 2023. The works will be judged by a panel of visual artists and three prizes will be awarded.

The 1st prize will be awarded with 200 euros and will be the poster of the Festival.
2nd prize will be awarded with 100 euros and
3rd prize will be awarded with 50 euros

All the posters sent by the artists will be presented in an exhibition that will take place during the Festival.

The desire of the Organizing Committee is to involve as many citizens as possible in the visual field of the organization of the festival.

A theatrical table puppet workshop is being organized

In 3 phases (in the months of March-April-May).

1. Construction of the head (duration 12 hours in 4 meetings, taught by L. Petroulaki)
2. Construction of the body with joints (8+ hours, will depend on the difficulty of choosing the body, taught by puppeteer Stathis Markopoulos).
3. Making a doll costume (duration 6 hours taught by L. Petroulaki)

PHASE I "Head". Letta Petroulaki teaches

1. Doll collection presentation. Choose doll character. Making and Sculpting a Pulp Doll Head (3 hours)
2. Completing a Pulp Doll Head Sculpting (3 hours)
3. Finishing the Head, Painting and Decorating the Doll Head (3+3 hours)

PHASE II "Body with joints" is taught by Stathis Markopoulos

1. Making a doll body out of wood. (8+ hours, in two 4-hour sessions)

PHASE III "Doll costume". Letta Petroulaki teaches

1. Pattern sewing of the doll's theatrical costume (6 hours in two 3-hour sessions)
